Many thanks to Prof. Pappin for engaging in the academic publishing world as part of such a handbook, of which many chapters do take a baseline uncritical stance vis-a-vis liberalism (which of course may be fair depending on the subject or stated approach!). My commendations for being a part of this kind of excellent scholarly project and the refreshing commitment to ideational pluralism that is often lacking in the bulk of the literature on illiberalism and related concepts. Looking forward to reading the chapter in full, the pdf is sitting in a folder waiting for the weekend...

If the government of Poland can claim that Jesus Christ is the King of Poland, why might not the state of Alaska recognize Saint Therese of the Child Jesus and the Holy Face as Queen of Alaska? Some state government really ought to test the waters here and affiliate itself with the Catholic Church.

Also, it would seem this sentence lacks a coherent grammatical structure: "This first clash between liberalism and Christianity took precisely the form I have suggested is similarly illuminating in present circumstances."
